#HALF LIFE SECURITY GUARD MOD#
Most of the map design was really good, the action sequences were thrilling and the mod actually attempted to create a small story (didn’t work much because I didn’t understand squat). I was so pissed I just had to go through it, no matter what. The frustration was one of things that hooked me to be honest. I was completely hooked, and I’m not ashamed. I didn’t stop playing it for all of that time. I started playing this around 10 p.m., after dinner, and finishing by 2 a.m. It’s been out on ModDB for quite some time. I remember playing this mod last February or March. I highly recommend you played the training room – It’s almost a proper mod in itself.

It’s unusual to say mods are too long but this would certainly have benefited from an outside influence with regard to editing it down.Īll in all, I probably enjoy 2 solid hours out of the 5 hours I played. It seems that the authors wanted to make it even longer and the mod finished earlier than they planned, but it would have been better to fit the last part in to somewhere in the middle. The next issue was that the mod should have finished after Dr. That time the difficulty just ramped up and seemed really unfair. Once in some radioactive room with a really hard jump (image 139) and once on Xen outside Dr. That seems harsh but it’s really not hard to get somebody to check text these days – I would have done it if they asked. It seems like it’s been through two or three passes of an online translator. It’s often not exactly clear where to lead them and if they die then the mod ends. There are WAAAAAY to many sections that require you to lead NPCs around to doors or whatever, and that SUCKS big time. Some of the gameplay is well designed and fun to play.īut that leads me onto to the not so good. Most area look realistic in the sense that they could be in the BMRF. Some areas are very detailed and look almost as good as the game. At least it “looks” like it’s well built. It’s well built, from a technical point of view. I am recommending you play it, because some sections are great but some not so great.
This is an interesting mod, but it is also one of the most frustrating I have ever played. Well, I suppose I should start with explaining my recommendation. The Replay Experience Experiment aka TREE.
